Recovering Funds from Polygon zkEVM: The Claims Interface

What happened

Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta was sunset on July 3, 2026. The sequencer has stopped producing blocks, and the chain no longer exists in an active state. As a result:

• Polygon Portal and Agglayer Portal no longer support Polygon zkEVM. Neither platform can bridge, swap, or manage assets on the network anymore.

• Withdrawals can no longer be processed through the Agglayer Bridge.

• Any assets still sitting on zkEVM at the time of sunset need a different route back to Ethereum.

That route is the Polygon zkEVM Claims interface: https://zkevm-claims.polygon.technology/.

What the Claims interface does

The Claims interface is a standalone web app built specifically to recover assets from the retired zkEVM chain. It runs independently of the sunset sequencer — it uses exit certificates and a public read-only RPC to verify what you're owed, so it doesn't need the chain to be live.

Polygon Labs never takes custody of the funds. Every claim is a transaction you sign yourself, submitted directly to Ethereum.

Who this is for

The Claims interface only recovers assets that were held in a self-custodied wallet (EOA) — a normal MetaMask, OKX, Coinbase Wallet, or similar wallet — at the time of sunset.

It does not cover assets locked inside smart contracts, including:

• Liquidity positions in DeFi protocols deployed on zkEVM

• Assets held by multisig wallets deployed on zkEVM

• Assets locked in third-party bridge contracts deployed on zkEVM

If a user's funds fall into one of these categories, direct them to the protocol or contract operator — the Claims interface can't help there, and there isn't a Polygon Labs-side recovery path for it.

How to use it

• Go to https://zkevm-claims.polygon.technology/

• Connect the wallet that held funds on zkEVM (MetaMask, OKX Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, or another EOA wallet).

• The interface automatically scans for claimable assets and displays them.

• Select the assets to withdraw and confirm the claim transaction.

• Funds are delivered directly to that wallet on Ethereum Mainnet.

There's no manual form to fill out and no support ticket required to trigger a claim — the interface reads eligibility directly from the wallet.

Deadline

The Claims interface stays live through December 31, 2027. After that date, it retires. Assets aren't forfeited — they remain recorded on Ethereum — but Polygon Labs will no longer provide the interface or support to help users claim them, and recovery by other means may not be practical.

Encourage anyone with funds still sitting on zkEVM to claim well before the deadline rather than waiting until the window is closing.
